Creating emotional impact: key interior trends for 2025
The main interior trend for 2025 centers on creating an emotional impact, with spaces designed to evoke comfort, safety, and rejuvenation. These essential emotions are more relevant than ever, shaping the year’s approach to interior design.
What brings these feelings to life? A thoughtful blend of furniture shapes, textures, and colors, with textiles as a primary tool for designers—a dream come true for any interior designer who loves working with fabrics! Let’s explore this starting with textiles:
- Natural Fabrics. Demand for natural textiles like linen and hemp, which are low-maintenance and sustainably grown, is on the rise.
As an example my project with linen curtains and bedding. - Plush Textures. Rich fabrics like velvet, bouclé, and tweed, once overlooked, are making a comeback. Bouclé remains especially popular in furniture.
- Contrasting Materials. Combining luxurious, textured fabrics with simpler ones like plush velvet against raffia wallpaper, adds visual depth and interest. I’ve decorated the room using 2 types of fabric: elegant gray plain linen and linen with embroidered pattern Masks.
- Layering. Borrowed from fashion, layering has become a major trend in interiors. Sofas now feature layered pillows, throws, and rugs, while bedrooms showcase layers of bed covers, pillows, and cozy throws for a welcoming feel. Here you can find decorative pillows from my author's collections or coverlets.
- Arches and Soft Lines. Arches are reappearing in interiors, accentuated with lighting, fabrics, consoles, and art. Furniture, rugs, and lighting now embrace softened edges for a more relaxed look.
- Organic Shapes. Inspired by nature, sofas and armchairs are adopting biomorphic forms, with designs echoing shapes like leaves and shells.
- Multi-Generational Spaces. Living rooms are being designed to host large family gatherings, with features like expandable tables, modular sofas, side tables, and movable screens for flexible spaces.
As confirmation of these trends, Benjamin Moore announced the color of 2025 Cinnamon Slate. It's not just a plum color. This color is warm and cozy in noble-like velvet, with the addition of luxurious chocolate shades. It will be an excellent choice for any space.
